Cosham opportunity area

We have a unique chance to improve public spaces, community facilities, transport connections and create new homes for people in Cosham

The Cosham opportunity area is located around Northern Road, close to the centre of Cosham. Much of the land is owned by Portsmouth City Council and other public sector bodies.

People who live and work in Cosham are being invited to share their ideas on what Cosham needs to thrive now and in the future. We want to work with the local community  to develop a plan for Cosham that reflects the needs and ambitions of the area.

Improve community facilities and local services

Create welcoming, safe, green public spaces

Improve transport connections and reduce congestion

Introduce more walking and cycling routes

Make good use of brownfield land plots

Create good quality new homes for local people

Provide a boost to the local economy and support job opportunities

Support the area as a hub for health and wellbeing activities

Much of the space within the Cosham opportunity area is owned by Portsmouth City Council and other public sector organisations, so there is a real opportunity to work together and make improvements to the area that will benefit the whole local community. The plans are at a very early stage and we want to hear your views on the future of Cosham.

The Cosham opportunity area is around Northern Road close to the centre. It includes the former police station and fire station on Wayte Street.
